Ok, so I'm pretty well sold on a warbonnet for my first hammock, but I need to know what kind of a sleeping pad will work in case some part of the hammock fails... I need one that works in the hammock, and works on the ground.

Did you get dbl layer? If so you could probably get away with a Walmart ccf pad or if you want less bulk and weight GG 1/4" pad.

A Warbonnet... Fail?
Those who expect disappointment are never disappointed.
I can't see any reason that a Warbonnet would fail!? But if you are looking for a pad to go with the hammock, JRB sells a very good pad, as well as the GG 1/4 in wide which you could cut it too fit as it's very wide! Not to push it but a UQ would be sooooooooo much more comfortable, and keep you warmer, with no risk of slipping off the pad or anything like that! There is nothing wrong with using a pad in a hammock, alot of people still do and will continue to use them, but most have moved to using a UQ!
This strkes me as one of the better arrangements for pad users:

Exped downmat deluxe. Super comfortable on the ground, reasonable weight and pack size, and insanely warm. The deluxe is wider and longer than most sleeping pads, which will give you better coverage for your shoulders and hips.
I've slept comfortably in the low 20s with a 15 degree bag, my downmat 7 deluxe, and ended up having to strip down to my boxers because I was too warm. The dowmnat is the cadillac of inflatable mats, IMHO.
I also use a Downmat 7 occasionally...just the normal size at 20" wide and 7 cm thick. It's just thick enough that it holds me off the hammock high enough that I don't need a SPE.
It's a great pad, and doesn't give me the condensation issues I had with CCF.

IMPOSSIBLE JUST TAKES LONGER
@ oldgringo, I see that that isn't an actual "pad" perse', but an insulating pad, his big agnes goes into his bag. I wasn't worried about colder nights, as I hope to see snow only for less than a month, so, @everyone else, what are all of those pad's websites?
