    So, what's your suspension weigh?

What's your favorite hammock suspension system, and what does it weigh?

Over the weekend, I made my first hammock with Wal-Mart ripstop and added 11' of hardware-store tie-down straps on each end, which weigh about 2.5-3 oz. each -- don't remember precisely. Doing the Speer wrap provided quick and somewhat satisfying results, except that I think the straps are stretching (mystery fiber, could be nylon for all I know). So, before I start madly ordering rings, buckles, Spyderline, etc., I'd like to hear about the weight tradeoffs of the more elaborate suspension systems.

Thank you! With what I've learned here, I've managed not to fall on the ground yet!

I use the ring buckles and the Harbor Freight polyester webbing. The last time I checked I think everything weighed in at about 6.8 oz including 2 x Camp Nano Biners, 4 descending rings, and 15' of webbing. I have trimmed my webbing down to 10' length but I have not weighed it since I did this.

    11' of 3mm spectra line 0.9 oz, (x2) = 1.8 oz
4 SMC descender rings 1.6 oz
    40" of 2" wide (9000 lb) webbing (x2) = 3 oz
Incidental spectra loops for attaching rings etc.. < 1 oz

    Total weight < 7.5 oz

Tree spacing between 13' and 25' (theoretically up to 30')... My backyard has trees at 15' and 25' for testing...

Easily holds two people in hammock (with dynamic loading... )

Optional... two Camp Nanowire biners +2 oz.... Makes putting webbing on trees MUCH more convenient.

Also could save weight by using narrower webbing.
