I don't think I have the legs for a kilt.
"For the Glory of All, The Light Shines on".
Check out Skye Highland Outfitters The 4 yard PV kilts are awesome for the outdoors but if you want a really inexpensive kilt, check stillwater for their Economy or Thrifty lines.
Celtic Warrior kilts does some nice stuff as well if you are more into a cotton cargo kilt
I think it is really great you got that kilt out of the closet. I recently got a kilt myself. I had some chaffing so i went back to shorts. But when I get these theighs a little thinner it's going back on. I was thinking about wearing it around tha house but nixed that Idea.

I (female) think the utilikilts look awesome...especially on the fella doing construction work on the top right
I was married (in Venezuela) to a Scot and he looked smashing when we went out at night and he wore his kilt. The ladies were like butterflies.
I've also lived in the Middle East (Kuwait), so seeing men in dishdashas, lungis, or kilts isn't such a big deal like to those of you who are horrified at the thought of a man in a SKIRT. Women wear slacks. Whatever floats your boat.
(my husband wore his kilt in Kuwait also - British Embassy, so, many cocktail parties). (we could import duty-free booze).
Old Caledonian, here. I have dressed up, on a formal occasion.

Congrats!
I'm waiting on a 8 yard wool from Skye right now also in Fraser Hunting.
Should be here this week or so. I won't use it for hiking. I have my MarPat Pittsburgh Kilt (unfortunately no longer in business) for that. It's the same cotton rip-stop camies are made from. It also has two slash pockets like pants and an under-apron pocket. Really, a super functional kilt.
