try using the alternate wrap from early in this thread, it might work better, the nine wrap works because it has a really narrow notch to pinch the line and teeth, yours looked like it had neither.

    Hey that's a good one!
I think we have some similar three holed parts earlier in the thread.

Del I wanted to say I got a chance to use the buckles. I experienced the same failure you did. But then I retied using a double length of cording and they held fine. I have since decided to use them solely with straps and ordered some 15' straps to use with them these work and hold completely secure. I'm going to use the buckles like this they seem to work fine and give me a place to attach my DIY UQ and hang my pack. Thanks again for sending me a pair from my design that was totally awesome.

As a side note it was the coating on the spiderline that let go. I think if I were to use a solid braid with no outer coating the buckles would work fine. Maybe a vectan line or something on that line. However I'm just going to use them with straps for now.
The ropes on the end of my Treklight hook up perfectly to the mahem buckle. Later I'm going back out to lounge in this wonderful weather we're having here!

I could probably round the edges make them work for me. They are plenty strong and a great design that you had. I just have not had time to try. I am going on a 4 day hike a week from this Friday. We will see what happens then.

My failure was also on the coating of the spectra. It ripped and the core stretched considerably.

Glad you like them anyhow. Have a great hang!

here's something i made awile back, but it didn't hold with the amsteel blue so i set them aside, then i tried with some vectran the other day and it works great, they adjust smooth, and self align so you don't have to worry about the rope not stacking perfectly like you do with round rings.

    long live this thread

Yes, we can't let this thread die..
I think 3/4 of my posts are on this one and the bridge thread...
Nice design brandon. I like the little V cleat there.
Does it seize up at all after hanging for an extended period?

i haven't hung overnight, but it seems super easy to release, just pull the plates apart.

I just recieved my small biner fig9 and tested it out today for my tarp ridgeline an I have to say these are REALLY well made and super light. It was a snap to put it up.

I love those things. Got em at all points on my tarps. Makes life easy, infinitely adjustable and strong.

To keep similar ideas within this thread 2Q just posted the cinchcleat elsewhere.

I need to relook at making a cleat out of alum. like that. My only concern would be the middle post bending..... I know we discussed using a buckle but that had the middle piece going all the way across so you would have to thread the line through.
