That is good news! He is using 1/4" because that is what he had in the scrap pile. It may be a bit heavier, but I don't count grams or calories. We will see in a few days what this thing is like. I will post pics when I get them in.

I'm in for it! A group buy that is!
Well I wanted to modify my biner type thingie that I made the other day. I took a cue from Dutch's and decided to do something a little different. The way mine bent out was probably because I didn't have enough material in the upper corners. So I thought I could distribute the forces over a semi-circle type shape. If I was going to deem this a name it would be an Omega buckle...because it like an omega with inverted 'legs'
Anyway, I need wider material and better tools.... I would have been able to have thick enough walls if I was able to cut where I drew the lines. Alas, the bits and files have a mind of their own. I gave up trying to make the semi-circle perfectly smooth but you get the idea.
I wish Rapt would peep up again and give me the low down on the structural strength of this puppy.....

I got my Pure_Mahem inspired buckles in today! My buddy made them on his CNC machine. They look fantastic. I have a polished pair and a raw aluminum pair. I don't have a scale, but they are made from 1/4" aluminum stock, so they are beefy. Still fairly light though. I am attempting to post a link to the photo. =)
It was not my idea to put my name on them, but I thought it was funny. =)

I'm not finished with it yet, but I finally got around to making one of those buckle/anchors. I still have to put radiuses on it. It also weighs more than I wish at 24 grams. Maybe I can shave some off that yet. I don't really have a use for it, but I like the idea. Sometimes the use comes later.
