JRB stuff sack. Really thinking about going to snake skins though.
I agree on the bulk and weight of the skins...not a whole lot, but still not really needed. That's why I usually just stuff it into my outer pocket w/o a sack or anything. Never had a problem with snags or anything.

IMPOSSIBLE JUST TAKES LONGER
I like my skins. The fact that I can have my tarp up but not deployed makes it worth it for me.......

I use skins for the same reason. I was amazed at the Hoosier Hang, even though the weather was beautiful the second day, tarps went up right away, while I never deployed mine. I laid in the sun and soaked up the warmth and that night had a beautiful display of stars.
Even when I do deploy, I put my tarp as high as I can and still be protected as necessary. I want to feel like I am outside. The lack of that feeling is what I did not like about tents.

Yeah - I don't think I've ever carried the same kit twice! Sometimes skins, usually without. Different hammocks all the time, different tarps, etc. The only things I have on nearly every trip are the No Sniveler and whatever pack I have at the time. Right now it's back and forth between the Miniposa Plus and the Murmur, depending on season.

Both... first I use the snake skins and then put it in a DIY bishops bag.
I used to use mesh skins.
Then I went with an "below a ridgeline" configuration and tied the rolled up tarp to the ridgeline at several points with a couple of small pieces of line prussiked to the ridgeline. This is cool since the tarp can be out of the way when I want it and is easy to control if it is windy during the initial deployment.
To pack it, I would bundle the rolled and tied tarp up and use one end of the ridgeline to wrap it into a compact bundle. Rather fussy.
So now I still use the "below a ridgeline" setup, with ties, but I stuff the whole thing into the original stuff sack and strap it to my Molly Mac Pack. Stuffing makes a smaller bundle than bundling it up and wrapping w/ line.

I'm always getting snagged by laurel bushes or briars in the gorge.
ABSOLUTELY ... love that. Ready to deploy on the quick.
Yeah it's bulk but just due to the tube that's created once in the skin it's a matter of folding up instead of say ... stuffing it into a sack. It's not a lot ... a bag is a little easier to put in a pack.
Another thing I'm really referring to 10x12 tarps ... you go 8x10 or smaller it's not as big a factor. Another option I guess would be to drop the HH larger skins I have and make some that are a little more ... loose fitting with a 10x12 tarp ... that might compress up more in the skins.
Might just inject up a few this weekend!
