Interesting idea.
I was thinking of having my tree hugger permanently connected to the whoppie sling with a continuous loop, then connecting my hugger to itself with a nacrabiner after having it wrapped around the tree. Or maybe i will do this:

Convienence of a biner, lightweight. I like your idea too though, im curious, why would you want your whoppie sling to be removeable so easy? Do you use them for other things on the trail while not hanging?

If your tree huggers are wet, you have to store them with the hammock. Maybe a little zip-lock bag will work.
It allows the optional use of a marlinspike hitch with toggle, when the nacrabiner connects single wrapped tree hugger to itself.
