With a name like Treeboat at least it's a better name choice than the name chosen by these folks.

Now I know what you're thinking. Did he fire six shots or only five....opps sorry , wrong story. You're thinking why would he searching for that term ? The answer would be no - I was not. This particular line of hammock maker was found in a post on the bushcraftuk forum a week or two ago.

I've heard him mention that before. One of these days, I'll have to ask him how exactly he did it. I don't know if he used some sort of ascendors, pulleys or what. I'd remain a bit wary with a regular gathered end hammock. I've not managed to fall out of one yet, but I have had my suspension give or slip a few times. Not bad when it's 2 feet. Not good when it's 20.

I read Richard Preston's Wild Trees. It's about tree exploration. They use Tree Boats in the book.

I can't imagine anyone would sling between 2 trees, especially redwoods. I've been at the top of 100' trees, and even a slight breeze moves the top quite a few feet. All tree camping I've seen is single tree and quite near the trunk.

No big risk of me hanging from any redwood any time soon. The hemlocks are about the tallest around here, and they are eaten up with some parasite. I hope that they do not go the way of the American Chestnut.

Still, I do wonder how much a 300' tree sways when it's diameter is 30'? I'm sure that it does to some extent, but I wonder if they are not more stable due to their size.
