My tarp has one tie-out on each side. The reinforcement at each tie-out point is a small stake bag that holds the stake and line for that side already attached, plus a stake for the end tie-out, if needed. (The ends are weighted down by water bottles in pockets. I only add end tie-outs in heavy winds.)

I use the shepherd hook type stakes. I have a small piece of cardboard, slightly longer than the stakes and about 4-5 inches wide. I slide the stakes down into the channels of the cardboard. This keeps the stakes from damaging other items. I then roll the cardboard into a tube. Inside the tube is where I keep my tree straps and toggles. A rubber band holds the cardboard in a tube shape.

My main concern is the stakes put a hole in something so Leif is correct.

Thanks for all the replies. I've got an unbelievable quantity of Tyvek bags, so that will be the winner.

Rain coat came in a hybrid stuff sack (Netting & nylon) that holds my 8, that is kept in an outside pocket on my OHM. The Rain coat goes in it's own pocket & is stored in the front net pocket of the pack.

I use an REI tent stake bag. Works well for that purpose at 0.75oz.

    I don't. & Maybe.

Loops on the ends of tarp tie outs and HH body tie outs happily accept girth hitched short sturdy twigs or small limbs and rocks for deadmen.

    But YMMV

REI has a tent stake sack for $4.50. I use the MSR Ground Hog stake and a Nite Ize S-Biner through the loops to keep them together.

I use Alu gutter nails for stakes and a 16 oz disposable water bottle to carry them. Always! put the nails in head first so that the pointy end is towards the screw top.
