These people did a good job. The last one I think they went a little overboard.

These show what a little contrast does.

Not so much as stealth just don't think people would be expecting someone to be there. This pic was posted by TDWeaver. He's got or is missing a little sumpin more than what I've got at my age anymore to try hanging like that. Very nice though.

Now your getting it Ramblinrev. I'm thinking of magic marking and or some minimal layering of contrasting material in strategic places. Say in the guy out areas. I'd already be adding reinforcement material there. Just make them a little larger and odd shaped to break up the outline some. Being sewn on top I'd have concerns of the extra seems on top to keep sealed. A little more weight with layering also. I'm thinking of clip ons here and there also. Just need to fine the right materials that are cost effective for three set ups.

When folks here talk about stealth is that stealth with respect to people or animals or both, I guess? Can I ask the noob question - why? I'm not judging, just curious.

Is the stealth interest a hunting thing, or a trespass thing, self defense, just cool - what?

For me it is privacy from others. But also, a brightly colored campsite is obnoxious to me, even if it is my own. Natural tones are peaceful to me.

Ditto what Trooper said. When I go to the woods it calms me. No mater what I do. So blending in makes me feel more of a part of it. Bright colors are loud to me. Heck I live in the woods so our log home is earthtone colors. So are my vehicles. Maybe the only thing that isn't a earthtone color is my birthday suit, the wife and the daughter .

Forgot to add. Most animals are color blind. Mostly shades of black to white for them. Besides sounds and odors they pick up on movement, contrast, shapes and even a fluorescent glo caused buy a lot of modern cloths detergents (color brighteners). So if a camo is to busy it just turns into a blob to them. So my stealth for my camping is from people.

Color is only part of the equation if you are trying to be stealthy. This may have been covered since I'll admit to not reading the whole thread, but probably the biggest problem to overcome is the shape of the gear. There aren't very many naturally occurring simple geometric shapes in nature whereas man and man things are pretty much all about simple geometric shapes. Nature is more about fractal geometry. To really be stealthy you have to break up the shape. A tarp in an A-frame configuration looks like a big rectangle form the side and sticks out like a sore thumb. End on it looks like a big triangle. Anyone familiar with a ghillie suit will know what I mean. A tarp with some nice big cat cuts is a step in the right direction.
