Watertree is a left turn at about the south end of the pond. Not sure what that turn looks like these days. Gullypipe is farther on where the MST goes out to the edge. It's a plastic pipe running water right at the top of the climber's descent gully. Be careful there. People have fallen.

Note, the marker nearest the bottom your map Ken, says "Water Tree" & it should say "Gully Pipe"
And the map is w/ north at top of page of course.

BTW... I like your new avatar. You look so happy... that picture musta been took in the gorge!

    I marked and averaged the WS 30+ times for GPs. N35 51.867 W81 52.976
It's about 4 min down the trail and 10 min back (naturally!). There is a small fall to the left as you approach the 'stream' which will make water collection real easy.

The Water-Tree turn off can fool you. As you're saying to yourself, "Cool, there's the pond", you can pass it on your left! The trail is overgrown and convoluted due to downed trees, but you should find it easily with your intuitive hiking skills.

    Have fun.

I'll be hiking Cold Mountain this weekend with two, soon to be, converts. I'm outfitting both of them

Just add good friends, good food, a campfire, thunder, and lightning (again)- Cant miss

Nope, Tim, that is the watertree. The gullypipe is on southwest of there following the dashed line on the map out to the edge of the cliffs. I'll get up a map showing it tonight. That image is one I already had available.

Looks like it is just me, MedicineMan and Legs on this trip.

Anyone else able to meet us either Friday night or Saturday morning?

As far as I know it has been working all day Mac. I've been there several times. Some people (me included) have had dns problems with it and other sites lately. I've switched to opendns.org at home and at work. Charter's dns servers are terrible.
