MedicineMan & Wisenber, are you two still able to make it?

Wisenber, are you going to do two weekends in a rwo in the Gorge?
Mac, I think I'm going to have to skip this one and go with the next weekend. I was wanting to try the counter-clockwise loop. I've also got a client scheduled to open a new firing range on 6/10 (pushed from 6/1), so I'll need to make sure everything is in order on my end.

Sorry you won't make it, Walter!

The weather looks like it will be wonderful, though hot. Perhaps a good weekend to stay on the ridge.

ANY weekend is a good weekend to stay on the ridge. Some of them are just more challenging than others.

I'd go both times, but business has just been strange here the last couple of months. Most of my April work pushed into May and now June. I had two slow months, and now I've got three months of work to bang out in one month. Still, it beats worrying about a paycheck.

I'm in. I'll be staying in Boone Friday night so, where should I meet in the morning and at what time?

Also, are we actually backpacking somewhere for saturday night?

and how far is the hike in?
I'll be glad to meet you, and anyone else who hasn't been there before, at Louise's Rockhouse Restaurant on Friday evening, if you like.

Here is Spence Trailhead parking lot on Table Rock Road. It's a long dirt road, accessible through a residential neighborhood, which I wouldn't recommend doing for the first time in the dark.

I want to hike about 5 miles down the ridge to Shortoff Mountain on Saturday and back on Sunday. It takes us past Table Rock Mtn, The Chimneys, and Chimney Gap before we reach Shortoff.

The weather is basically 50% chance of Tstorms.

Mac, do you know where the water source is at Chimney Gap?

There's a campsite there in the bottom of the Gap. Small trail goes out the west side of it and down to the water source.

You're welcome. If you go as far as the south end of Shortoff, there is water at the watertree, and at the gullypipe.

Watertree is a left turn at about the south end of the pond. Not sure what that turn looks like these days. Gullypipe is farther on where the MST goes out to the edge. It's a plastic pipe running water right at the top of the climber's descent gully. Be careful there. People have fallen.
