How easy is it to use a thread injector?

First off: don't be afraid to use the "s" word . . . sewing.

Sewing is easy: plug in machine and stomp on the pedal. That being said, sewing properly is not very difficult but does have a learning curve. Like many of the above posts, Revs videos helped me a lot; especially the sections on the different types of hems and seams used in gear. Learn how to thread the machine and set the tensions first. My advise would be to start on scraps of denim. This is very easy to sew. Next move to a lighter weight cotton and play with that. If you start off with thin nylon (especially 1.1 ounce silnylon) you will be using the other "S" word A LOT.

It is hard .... and scary.
I sewed my finger to my finger. That one hurt. for a while. Left a scar......

I jest of course ..... just read them instructions and go at it......

I actually did sew thru my thumb in 7th grade Home Ec. I was threading the needle and, for some reason, my foot decided not to get off the pedal when I told it to. So when my thumb was under the needle, and I was concentrating intensely on that little hole, my foot smashed down on the pedal (on purpose, I think) and the needle took a big gash out of the side of my thumb.

I heard the machine moving first, and thought, "That's not supposed to be happening now."

Then I saw it and thought, "That's not gonna feel good."

Then I felt it. I was right.

I didn't tell the teacher b/c I thought she would fail my project, so I found some kleenex and duct tape. Not joking, either...no way I was gonna take that class again!

So this gear-making stuff can be dangerous. For some reason, sewing just isn't as dangerous as my manly gear-making is...

There are OSHA approved needle guards for commercial sewing machines. But I don't think anybody uses them. They are the most unreasonable pieces of arbitrary "protection" around. They make it virtually impossible to thread the needle.
