After trying slap straps, hennessy knot, cinch buckes, rings, and currently using whoopies... I'd have to say the whoopies win hands down. Save yourself some time and money and order a pair of whoopies.
and if you're gonna make whoopies... I went by my local JoAnn Fabrics and in the notions dept. I looked for a tool that would turn tiny straps. Found a tool called "Loop Turner", it's about 12" long with a hook at one end. I think it must have been on sale the day I bought it, just $2. Works perfectly for pushing & pulling the amsteel end through the middle of the rope. You just have to be careful you don't jab it outside the rope when you're wanting to push it through the middle.
Oh, and one more thing... once you learn how to make whoopies, you start looking around to find more places you can use them just so you can make more whoopies

Can't we all just 'Hang' along?
Yea the loop turner thing is "GREAT" makes it soooo much easier! I got one at the MAHHA hang by a truly act of kindness from WV, and it made a world of difference!
