+ or - 2 pounds
Mine is right at 2 lbs. Some say their's is lighter, some heavier. I'm guessing it's dependant on what kind of guylines you use. I've just ordered 2 more, found them at Bargain Outfitters for $20/each. plus used a code BF552 for $5 off of $25 http://www.bargainoutfitters.com/net....aspx?a=328267
My son & husband tend to borrow mine, now they can have their own.
I started with a Speer Winter Tarp.
Excellent tarp with lots of pitch options.
For warmer weather, I went with the incredibly easy-to-pitch-tight OES MacCat Deluxe tarp.
But now, my official go-to tarp is the Warbonnet Big MambaJama with doors.
Better closure than even the Speer Winter Tarp, but able to open up as well.
And now that cold breezes are going away, I can remove the 7 ounces of doors and just use the main tarp. It weighs a bit more than the MacCat Deluxe, but less than the Speer Tarp (once the doors are removed), and I LOVE the stealthy color.
I would either go with a "Full Warbonnet Set" or spread the $$ around to all different vendors.
Lots of great tarp options for us hammock folk....
Whooooo Buddy)))) All Secure in Sector Seven
I went with the JRB 11x10. It's great in iffy and nasty weather.
I started with the Superfly with doors. It's a bomber tarp and I love setting it up with a porch. I also have a Maccat Spinn standard. With the warm weather getting here this has seen the most use lately. I also have a Claytor diamond fly. I'm not too fond of it, it's pretty much a loaner now.
It's only an addiction if you're trying to quit
my first tarp is an oes maccat deluxe... if it gets real nasty out there i just bring the sides down.. haven't had much of a probem with it... nice and light, plenty of coverage and its all back so it looks cool
As a fellow Scouter and new to Hammock camping I was looking for an economical light weight solution. I found the Gear Guide 12X12 tarp to work well and for $20. It’s big enough to cover all my gear and for the weekend out I found it great.
When my Scouts get into Winter Camping I'm going to look at a winter tarp with doors.
