Both my Hyperlight and UL Backpacker have 1450lb test ultra light spectra support ropes that I'd trust hanging over Niagara Falls.

Neo, you are the first person I have ever heard of that has had the cord break on them. The only thing I could think that would weaken the cord would be leaving the hammock set up outside in the sun and the environment for a very long time. I have two HH hammocks. One for me and one for my wife. Mine is almost 5 years old and still going strong.

I have no love for the HH Spectra cord, but I have to agree that your cord MUST have been damaged in some way for it to break, especially breaking 2 times.

I'lll have to say that I also trust HH cords. I cut most of mine off and added straps. But the cords looked strong.

This talk of weak cords make me think of testing the breaking strengh. The only thing I cam come up with is tieing one end to a fixed object and pulling it behind my car.
