    UQ for NX-250

    Hello NickJ:

I think that you will like the JRB MW-3 UQ. As you said, the dimensions are on the JRB web site. You can also view JRB's UQ rigging which is a combination of bungee/shock cord; as you have already surmised. JRB supplies a full set of rigging when you purchase the MW-3 UQ. If you decide to buy an UQ from your local supplier, you can still get the rigging as a separate purchase from JRB.

One important matter to note is that the JRB MW-3 UQ has a channel at each end of their UQ which allows you to pull it up tight to a gathered end hammock like the NX-250. If you buy locally; you might want to ensure that the supplier includes the end channels.

Hi LB. I've looked at the site and can't work out what this "channel" is?

    Jrb Mw-3 Uq

    Hello NickJ:

Sorry I have been out of town and didn't pick up your post until tonight. Here are a couple of photos of the "business end" of the JRB MW-3 UQ. I just took these quickly tonight; so as to be responsive to your question. Sorry for any lack of quality.

As you can see, there is a sewn in channel with a drawcord arrangement on the ends, which allows you to snug up the UQ around the contours of a gathered end hammock. I searched my photo archive and I don't have a picture of this feature "in action" on the NX-250. But, I will be happy to take one for you on my next outing.

It's exactly like the string in the hood of a coat. On the coat, you pull the string to close down the opening of the hood around your face. On the underquilt, you pull the string to close down the ends so they match the gathered end of the hammock.
