    Newbie LaborDay Project

    Greetings,
My name is Aerorider65 and I bought a Hennessy Hammock. I soon found that I wanted a bigger tarp and got a Hex tarp. I heard about cutting your ridgeline and I did it and was hooked and then unhooked and then hooked again. Then I felt that I needed to have more speed and got rid of my stock hangers and got rings and straps. Next I tried to experiement with different insulation options, like pads and sleeping bags. But these left me wanting more so I decided to make an underquilt. Walmart was my dealer for the ripstop and the mylarcoated, breathable, synthetic inuslation. Now I find that I stare blankly in space and dream of my next project, a cold weather top to my hammock and then maybe a bridge hammock and my wife keeps wanting me to do something about my new addiction. But I tell her I can quit any time and move on to a new hobbie. but.......?

    hobbies, addictions, etc.

my wife sure wonders what happened to me since this DIY hammock thing bit. "How many hammocks do you need?", she asks.

and to think that a woman doesn't understand that the satisfaction is in the journey as well as the destination.

no pc-flaunting gender discrimination here folks, just the facts, just the facts

anyway, welcome to your new addiction aerorider65, and to this forum of addicts. Suggest that to keep the disease under control some you stay away from the bridge hammock.

and how many shoes does she own?

Aerorider65 at least you have found an online support group here. Many of us suffer from a similar addiction, the key is finding people that understand and will help you cope.

Of course, we will also do a lot of enabling; welcome!

She's a remarkable woman in many ways. Fashion just isn't part of her interest space. Books now, that's another matter. We have a bookshelf in every room in the house. Several thousand volumes I'm sure, I'm afraid to count. Highlights of the year are library members' book sales. Two or three of these, and I gotta find space for another bookshelf, and get one there.

I was thinking the same thing, how many shoes and purses does one need?

Ugh! I don't want to talk about bookshelves; I've got too many! I have to move piles of books in order to layout any sizeable piece of fabric. No purses at this point...thank goodness.

    welcome to HF aerorider65.
at least it's a healthy addition... as long as you use good supports
if you wanted to get a little lighter & more compact, you could switch the snap hook on your ridge line for a mini biner like JRB sales on their site. ....tim
I too will something make and joy in it's making

Sounds like my house. Books stacked on every surface and my book shelves are overflowing, with books stacked in front of books. Whatever you do don't let her start looking for books on Half.com. She would spend some serious cheddar on that site.

Sam's club has some really nice solid wood (oak) book shelves for like a $180 for a double shelf.
