Great videos guys, hate I didn't get to meet everyone. I had a great time, already looking forward to the fall trip.
Sounds like a great trip!
Did anyone go down Cambric? Just wondering how bad it is and if the river is crossable near there....
I don't think any of our group did. My understanding is that the trail just ends as it gets really steep near the bottom, & from there you just make your way (slide) down the woods to the river.
I'm told that most people are finding a more suitable route through the woods bearing left/south were the trail ends.
But that's just 2nd hand info.
I too will something make and joy in it's making
What Tim said is pretty much it. The USFS has abandoned Cambric, and has not stated why. It is not on the new map. Like Tim said, turning south on the
south running lobe is said to be easier, and brings you to the river near Cambric Branch. I've never crossed there, so I can't comment on the crossing.

The crossing directly across the ridge I've done three times. Knee deep during normal flow rates. Rocky as all get out though.

Gents,
Thanks for the quick responses and valuable info. One more quick question for all you gorge rats out there. Is Memorial Highway passable in a 2wd passenger car, or do you need 4wd?
2wd is fine most of the time. It was really slick and muddy after the snow and ice storms this past winter, but that was the first time I'd seen it like that in years. It might get soft with a couple weeks of rain too, but it's generally in good shape. There are some ruts left now from the mud after the snows, but they are being hammered out by traffic. I imagine they'll scrape it sometime this summer.
