    Red face Long time lurker

Been lurking around for some time now. Decided it about about time I actually joined. I'm pretty big into ultralight gear and in DIY since I can't afford the nice gear without making it myself.

I started hanging a few years back when I discovered that no matter how much money I spent I'd never find a ultralight backpacking tent that would fit my 6'3" height; atleast not comfortably.

I'm currently hanging on a DIY 1.1oz single layer. Yes, I'm a light weight and I also like to push the ultralight boundary. Surprisingly it holds. Dunno for how long.

Welcome to the posting side of HF. I guess you'll find out how long that 1.1 single layer holds .

Welcome to the forums. I just bought some fabric from sclittlefield to make a single layer 1.1oz hammock. Glad to hear you haven't hit the ground (yet).

It's been going on about 9 months now with about a dozen nights overall spent in the hammock and alot of late summer early fall evenings. It's the lightest thing I could find that would breathe.

I need to make me some quilts next. I think that will be my first project as a member of the site.

Wish I had the skills to do some DIY, but I tend to be somewhat of a perfectionist and would probably argue with myself over the quality.
