I am so not into the DIY thing (as many of you have already figured out!)

but I do get OCD about weight and the little bits that add up to bigger weight. I was fortunate to have all my hammocks converted to whoopie slings at TDz this year!

That got me motivated to do just a bit more weight reduction upon my return...

I first took the full weight of all the hammocks as sold, then replaced the biners with Whoopies. I then decided to remove more extraneous stuff... the ENO labels and the buckle/compression strap webbing to see how much weight I could remove!

Double Nest
1# 7.6oz ---> 1# 2.3oz (5.3oz savings)

Single Nest
1# 5.5oz ---> 15.0oz (5.3oz savings)

I did the same with a Grand Trunk Double
1# 5.5oz ---> 1# 3.6oz (1.9oz savings)

GT does not use the heavy biners, but a small S-hook...

Just thought Id share!
