    Anyone hang/camp in the Caribbean

Stuck living in Manhattan and getting tired of upstate trips; looking to do something different. I was talking to a couple buddies of mine how it would be nice to find a remote beach or close to it, a tree to sling up a Hammock (I’m the only Hammock guy), and maybe cast a line in… just rough it on the beach for a few days instead of our usual upstate spots. I am open to long hike-in's or a rental car if needed.

Any suggestions, insights, stories or advice would be gratefully appreciated.

If this is the wrong forum or place to ask my apologies.

    Thanks!
    Cru-

**EDIT: For the record I know beaches don't usually have lots of trees. I lived in Hawaii for 5 years and found I had better luck in the forest/jungle area. Just thought I'd ask this question as I haven't seen much useful information on the web**

I have been to a few islands in the sea, of special notice was the high peaks and beautiful tropics of Dominica

of the seven or eight carribean islands i have been to, Dominica was the most gorgeous.

St. Lucia is a relatively close second.

we all definately want to drool over your pics wherever you end up. do it!

Can't help you with the trip, but it sounds like a good idea to me. I hope you can figure something out. Welcome to the HF.

Thanks guys! Yeah, figured even if I spent the same amount of money it costs to stay in some resort it would be 10x’s the trip to do it on or close to a beach in the tropics.
