Crampton Gap Shelter?! That's where the boy scout troop finally caught up with us! The little knee-biters chased us all the way from Harper's Ferry.
If you're a slacker (me) there's a forestry trail that leads from the parking lot to the shelter with almost no elevation change so you can avoid the silly climb-up/climb-down that you get if you follow the AT path. We found it when going back to the parking lot for buffalo wings.

Yep, that's the place and the forestry trail is what most people use to come into and out of the hang. We hang on the hill above the shelter. Plenty of places to hang up there. The place can handle as many hangers that want to show up no problem! We use the pavilion out by the parking lot for our Saturday night potluck and raffle.

Last time I was at MAHHA, I camped near the main trail. The Scouts swarmed in the second night and camped almost right underneath me. The tents had sprouted up like mushrooms. They were pretty quiet though after their campfire died down.

Just put it on my calendar, I am thinking about going down on the Thursday night before. Although the hang is rather far away so only time will tell.
