OTOH, if you want to fly into Dulles, BWI, PHL, etc. we can arrange to have someone meet you. UPS your gear up ahead to one of us. OR! AMTRAK - I can easily pick you up there too.

Plan now and you should find some very attractive airfares. $99 or less! Definitely less than 13 hours of gasoline and your backside will thank you
Amtrak is a great option. Dancer and I were planning on taking the train to Harpers Ferry for our fall hike, but decided to drive it, instead. If you go with Amtrak, I'm sure someone can pick you up and drop you off at the train station in HF.

Choo-Choo goes into DC - Union Station. From there you can get another out to Harpers Ferry; but, takes almost 3 hours IIRC. Try amtrak.com

If you do decide to come by train, there's lots of folks in the area who can pick you up and drive to Gathland for the MAAHA. Drive time is an hour or so...

Sorry! That may not have been clear. Get to Union Station, It's an hour drive from THERE to MAAHA. Picking you and/or anyone else at Union Station is not a biggie for many of us in the DC area.

Trust me, you don't want to drive that far unless you have someone else to split time with or plenty of time for rest and a proper place to sleep, or public transportation. I drove 12 hours overnight to the Northern Hang and then 12 hours overnight again to get home, napping in my car at rest areas. It was very tiring and I never got any real sleep.
Proving to the world that I can hang.
