I am making a pack but.... I just have a weakness for really cool stuff. This pack is really cool and I am a weak man. As I was filling out the paypal my wife poked her head in the computer room and said, "we really have to watch our spending this month" .......OK dear...... Press send money.

I am really looking forward to getting this pack. I will be using it next weekend for Mt Rogers.

Not to hijack the thread- I too was looking at this pack and am wondering how comfortable the front pack portion is related to heat retention? does it allow cooling in the front?

Yes, they do quite well. The reason is that you can mold the support bars to make it fit close, loose, or somewhere in between. This was a big concern for Genuine Draft and she has had no problems with getting too hot.
    Trust nobody!

Agreed - the only thing that got hot on me was my back, and that happens with every pack I own. The front pockets barely touch me.

The front pockets are very comfortable and you really don't notice them at all. I never had a problem with heat or rubbing/friction.

I agree with what everyone else said about the FF. If us girls can wear them and not have any problems with the front pockets, you guys should do even better with them. The back, as far as retaining heat... my personal opinion is that it does better than my other packs. You've got to pull out that metal bar and shape it for your back. After you get it right, the pack back panel, the part that's close to or touches your back, vents very well.

Got my pack already and it is perfect. If the Gods made backpack they surely would make this one. I am a pretty good study of backpacks and when I go to gear stores I really check out everything on packs to see how they were made and such. There is so much on this pack I haven't figured it all out yet. It looks big enough to go without the front packs and plenty big enough to take for winter. The back panel has some freaky mesh that I have not seen before. About half the hardware is foreign to me and must only be available in New Zealand. Lastly the material is really strong and unique.

I usually go a completely different direction with packs and shun zippered pockets and even side pocket opting for the large single bag compartment type. This is like giving someone who only drives a delivery van a loaded BMW. I looked good before, but I am sure I'm gonna look better now.
