Folks don't fret the permit situation all will be addressed in base camp. There are no more permits available so calling Nebo is of no use.

So show up and we'll make sure we work out your desires for a gorge experience

I need those PM's with names and dates if you wanna be counted.

Well, there's certainly advantages to being a cabinetmaker. I just finished up this job and the lady asked if I could dispose of her old cabinet doors. I said sure, and so we've got a bit of "firewood" to have for the campfires!

Monday morning I'll get to the Gorge early and hopefully catch the sunrise atop of Table Rock! Man, this is going to be great!

You have done a great job coordinating all this and kept us updated along the way too. I have GPS info and should have no problem getting to base camp. Guess I will show up there and find ya, or whomever you have patroling sector 7 and decide to park elsewhere if need-be.

I didn't see it if it was mentioned. For those of us who have never been to that specific area. Where would the last decent place be to fill up the ol truck coming East over 183 and down 181? Is there a gas station in Jonas Ridge. Also if anyone wants to bring two-way radios and play some to see what kind of reception we could get between the various groups around the ol ditch. I'll bring mine. We could set call times so the radios aren't on all day and run down batteries for the five days. I have the Motorola Talkabout MR355R that has eight GMRS Duplex repeter channels that I bought late last hunting season as a back up to when I have no cell service. I did a google search a while back for tower locations in the LG range and didn't find any open to transient users. Maybe if there is a radio junkie on the forum here they would have better luck figuring it out. I'm still in testing stages on how well they work in these MTNS.

I would say the last chances for gas will be Marion, Morganton, the towns of Linville and Newland. Last we heard the Jonas Ridge Trading Post? on 181 had closed, and the station in Linville Falls is now just a "snack" store. Note that Linville Falls, and Linville are two different communities with Linville being the largest. HERE is a map showing gasoline in the area. I do know that the station in Linville Falls no longer sells gasoline. It is point D on the map.

I have two Motorola frs radios I'm planning on bringing. I leave them on channel two with no tones or anything set.
