Shock cord between tarp & suspension line

I'm sure there is a thread somewhere that already addressed this but I can't find it. It seems that the tension on the tarp will slacken a little when you get in your hammock.

It seems that by attaching the plastic "thingy" tied to the prussic knot to the tarp by way of a short loop of shock cord the tarp could be better kept taunt.

Has anyone tried this? Is tarp sag really an issue?

I have a new HH ULBP but haven't hung in it yet. I am setting a post in the back yard today so I can finally try it.

    Thanks,

Yes, that is a viable solution. Some suggest hanging the tarp seperate of the hammock for this very reason.

Having some sort of tensioner on your guylines will help with this issue as well.

The only time I've noticed "tarp sag" is when I've had to rely on one tree that is not sufficiently strong/robust/big enough to resist moving from my weight when I get into the hammock. This can make for a flappy tarp that really can't be tautly pitched. Hate flappy tarps!

In that setup, a shock cord would probably have worked well. So far as I remember, that's only happened to me once.

Lots of people have noticed tarp sag when using the stock hennessey setup. The easy way to fix it is to hang the tarp separately, attached directly to the trees. This also has other benefits, like being able to hang your tarp first, and then do the rest of your setup under the tarp and out of the rain.

    Thanks

    Thanks everyone,

The cement, has dried and I'm finally hanging! I think I need to set it up a few more times before I get a sense of how crisp and taunt I can get it. So far a little floppy, a little bit off from level, a little cold w/o my pad, but too comfortable to get up and try to fix it.
