    Breaking in my DIY setup.

Well I managed to get a morning to test out my new setup, it's been a while since I made it but I've been busy and not had many chances to give it a try.

So I got up early Saturday morning to meet up with my old pal Simon in Zbraslav (click this to see where we hung) here in Prague, we had a few hours just talking crap, playing with hammocks, having a brew and even some quiet time relaxing.

There were a few showers but they didn't defeat my mighty tarp even though it hasn't been seam sealed yet!

I can put my hand on my heart and say everything in those pics was made by me, the tarp, hammock, underquilt and suspension, gives you a warm feeling in the belly it does

After realising I could see daylight through my hammock I was a bit nervous as it's only a single layer of lightweight nylon ripstop, but I'm a little guy so I lowered myself in slowly, thankfully gluteus maximus didn't meet terra firma, it did stretch a bit but I was expecting that, it was great and so comfy!

I did find out that the shockcord that brings the ends of the UQ together are better left a little loose rather than tight like I initially had them, it seems to wrap around you better with a bit of slack in them. The ridgeline is also temporary and pretty heavy climbing accessory cord but I just played around with different lengths, I'm going to replace it with a bit of amsteel soon. In all a nice relaxing morning in the not so wild Czech Republic It's a shame I couldn't spend a night in it away from civilisation but that time will come

    Very nice!
You're right about that warm belly feeling hanging in gear made by your own hand. Doesn't hurt that it looks nice too.

Great looking setup. How is the bugnet attached? How long is the hammock?
