    CLOSED: Aluminum Fuel Bottles

I have four aluminum fuel bottles sitting around because all of my stoves burn wood or alcohol. All of these are bright and clean on the inside, and show a little use on the outside. Great for car camping, and for gasoline bombs, er, I mean stoves, like the wonderful Svea!

They are, from left to right:

    1. Red MSR 22 oz bottle with plastic screw cap
    2. unpainted ~20 oz bottle with two plastic screw caps, one for storing, one for pouring
    3. Red ~20 oz white gas bottle with aluminum cap
    4. unpainted ~10 oz bottle with two plastic screw caps, one for storing, one for pouring

$25 for the entire set of four, or $8 each, plus shipping

can I keep my HEET in these for my alcohol stove?

If so, I'd like the 10oz unpainted one. You can even save some shipping costs and ship it with my hammock when you return it to me.
I have heard your confession I know who you blame
If you had it all back you'd just lose it again
Can't bank on redemption if you ain't saved
Don't bring me your tales of temptation and loss
Don't bring me the pieces of your shattered cross

Nope... what reminded me that I have these bottles was a discussion in another thread about alcohol being corrosive to aluminum and titanium.

methanol is just a conventional contraction of methyl alcohol. (H3+C+OH for the chemically cognizant)

It has additives, but you are right, it has only methanol, no ethanol. Both of those alcohols are what we burn in our stoves.

Interesting ... Vargo has titanium alcohol burners as does a couple other companies. Must not be the case

WARNING: Will discuss Rhurbarb Strawberry Pie and Livermush at random.

It is only a concern if you store alcohol in a titanium container.
