Help me get up to speed--nacrabiners ????

Right before I left on my section hike (almost a month ago) the nacrabiner thread was taking off.
Is the nacrabiner a method that will do away with the Marlin Spike Hitch?
Is Opie making and selling nacrabiners?
Nothing wrong with the Marlin Spike...certainly tied a number of them on this hike but if there is a better way then let me know.
    Thanks!

Short version: a nacrabiner is a carabiner made from amsteel. Also known as a loop shackle if you want to google it. You can do many of the normal carabiner tasks with it and a bunch of stuff that's completely out there like opie's prusik-nacra-things that are definitely the cool toy of the month.

MedicineMan, if you can make it to the Gorge with us on the weekend of June 5, I'll give you a couple of them!

OK, June 5 is on my calendar for Linville Gorge
While there we can discuss the kayak you'll be taking to the Coosa IF AngrySparrow gives me some insight into what kind we will need.

    No, it replaces a carabiner.

You probably have no carabiner in your suspension.

Ideal yak choice will depend on which section we choose. For most flatwater river trips, Hetairoi and I use 14ft touring boats. (BTW, we thru-paddled the Tallapoosa River while you were gone on your hike).

Let's start looking at sections and dates next week. Leaving for RRG momentarily..
