I am currently still using the tree hugger straps and the spectra cord that came with my HH. As the old saying goes if you got something that works why mess with it. I have no problem tyeing the know that Hennessey recommends. I don't even put all the recommended layers in the knot. I can tie it pretty darn quick. With that said I am working on an invention that can be used with the spectra cord. Do not hold your breath on the invention. It is in the thought stages right now.

Fairy Dust when I can find some. Never had them hang my hammock for me, but I've had them throw me out of a hammock once.

one option that was not mentioned is a variation on the stock tree hugger approach - have a tree hugger with two different size loops on the ends - first/smaller loop is just big enough for the rope to pass through and the second larger loop on the other end of the tree hugger is large enough so that a knot in the rope can pass through. The hammock support rope is threaded through the small loop and then a knot is tied in the end of the rope. Use is the same as with the regular tree huggers but the tree huggers are never separated frorm the support rope because the knot can't pass through the smaller loop in the tree hugger. I forget which commercial hammock mfg. uses this but I thought it was a good idea for people afraid of forgetting / losing the tree huggers.

At the moment I'm using my homemade slap straps, but I'm getting CC-style buckles soon. After I try those out, I'll either have CC buckles on both sides, or a buckle on one side and a daisy chain on the other.

I use the stock tree huggers but have been looking real hard at the slap straps. I am thinking slap straps with biners. Prolly will buy a set and give am a try.

Wink different straps for different applications

I use the rope that came attached with the Clark
The slap straps for the ENO and home made hammock
The buckle system on the Crazy Crib

Slow hike, I cleaned it up for you. As Just Jeff said when he posted. Copy the image code from the photo area in the gallery. What should have been noted was to copy the BB Image Code:. I will remove the <img> Tag Code: from the photos section so it will not be comfusing.

I used the stock cords for my HH but as I mentioned earlier I am changing the stock Spectra to webbing and the Speer 4-wrap. I may invest in a set of CC buckles on down the road.
