    I got some waterproof nylon and made a cross between a hammock sock and a bivvy (only need a very small tarp above). I'm ready to go.

    But when Bruce slept out in his huge ENO double nest, he ended up curled up instead of straight. He thinks it was trying to keep the sleeping bag on him, and wants to try wearing warm clothes instead. I wonder if it was the tension from the bugnet (like Mirage's, but DIY).
    Anyway, in the am he ended up with a tiny twinge of a sciatica problem (he's had a little after 8 hours of driving straight without a cruise control). This was definitely not a good sign. And so he's looking at tents....
    I'd like to modify the ENO by trying a support bar about 12- 18" long instead of gathering the fabric to a point. Maybe I can do that without sewing anything, and let him try it again? And don't some hammocks use bungees to pull them open more?
    Hmmm.
