So my 2 1/2 year old says to me

So I'm hanging in my backyard testing out a new DIY w/ my 2 1/2 year old boy running around the backyard exploring all the rocks and trees. Occasionally he'll come and hang with me in the hammock, then go back to playing.

So I'm checking out the new hammock, adjusting the ridgeline searching for that 'perfect' hang, and my son wants to hang with me. With the two of us staring up at the sky, he turns to me and says,' Daddy, will make meee a hammock?'

I'm thinkin bridge hammock or a 2-3 year old? Anyone have any recommendations, suggestions?

    Bridge

I made a Bridge hammock following the ones posted online here. I just scaled them down to about 70%. It worked out great. He really likes it. When we were first testing it he was hanging way out on one side - didn't tip over!

The bridge hammock works well for kids mainly due to being able to control the insulation better than a gathered end.

Any hammock is good when you get to spend time with the kids camping

Thanks Cranky I think this is what I'm looking for. Sounds like I have another DIY project to take on. I really like the bridge hammock design for it's stability over a gathered design. I'm thinking it will be alot easier for him to get in an out of as well as it hold itself open.

I'm also thinking it would be cool to attach a tarp to it and make it a tent hammock. Which he would love.

On memorial day I hauled him up one of the local mountains here in Utah. 4050 feet in 3.1 miles. 1400 the first 1.5 miles, 2600 the second 1.6 miles. Took all day, he had a blast. Definitely behaviour I want to encourage.
