    HH whoopie measurements?

i going to make some whoopies for my HH Exped and ULBA but i just want to confirm the measurements before i start.

for a 6ft sling, what should the starting length of the Amsteel be
    length of taper
length of the bury for the 2” fixed eye
the 2” fixed eye loop would be 4” of rope?
exit point from the adjustable bury would be 9” from the end of the fixed eye bury
the adjustable bury length should be 10’-11’?
on a 6ft sling, how long would the adjustable loop be?
what is the length of the bury on the tail backsplice?

if i went with 8ft slings, the only thing that would be different would be the size of the adjustable loop…everything else would remain the same?

for a 6ft sling, what should the starting length of the Amsteel be 13 feet 3 inches
length of taper 1-1/2 inches is plenty
length of the bury for the 2” fixed eye 8 inches
the 2” fixed eye loop would be 4” of rope? just fold the rope and mark the 2" inch eye out with a marker, and leave enough for your bury (8" bury +4=12", on the bury end) But yes its basically 4 inches of rope. 2" down and 2" up
exit point from the adjustable bury would be 9” from the end of the fixed eye bury correct, on the HH you need a longer section to accomadate the hh wrap on the hammock. If you do it too short your adjustable side gets caught up in the hh wrap.
the adjustable bury length should be 10’-11’?
10-11" (not feet, I'm assumung a typo?) is righton a 6ft sling, how long would the adjustable loop be? around 6 feet if you go with the mentioned 13 foot start length
what is the length of the bury on the tail backsplice?
an inch is plenty, or just tie a knot. I do mine with a loop and a overhand knot. The loop gives me something to grab. my preference is all.
if i went with 8ft slings, the only thing that would be different would be the size of the adjustable loop…everything else would remain the same? Not exactly, the start length will be different, 17 feet (approx), but the rest of the whoopie fabrication remains the same
    hope that helps.

Basically your start length is a foot, to a foot and half, longer than your desired finished length. You use up the extra foot or so, with buries and backsplices.

Gargoyle is right on the money.

I do use some different measurements.

On my fixed eye buries I use 6" for the bury. So with a 2" eye youll make a mark at 6" and 10".

I also move the adjustable bury up the line 12". It used to be 9", but feedback from customers said a little more room would be nice.

Adjustable bury... I used to use 9" here. Now I use 10". 9" works for me, but some said they may have had some slip. So in the interest of safety, I moved it up to 10".

The adjustable bury dimension is important. If you don't give the increased distance.... the adjustable bury is VERY close to the whipping of the fixed eye.
It was too close to put the cover on and adjust the sling.
You would be pleased to use this measurement.

Also this gives room to use the stock tarp attachment.

Storm.. Only by 3". I start with 13'. I didnt figure the extra 3" was worth mentioning.

Also... Youll end up with a sling thats longer, overall, than 6'. With not quite the adjustment range youd find in a normal sling.
