Sealing tarps faster?

So, I was just asked to go on a hike tomorrow and I realized I needed my tarp (JRB 10x11) to be seam sealed. So, I ran outside, put on the sealer and now it looks like it might rain. I live in Oregon, so the weather is cloudy and cold.

How can I speed up the drying time? Should I just bring it in the house? I leave in the morning, and I applied quite a bit of sealer...

If it's going to rain I would suggest bringing it maybe in your basement to stay out of the moisture.

Not sure how you can speed up drying time, but being inside in the heat may help vs being outside where it's colder.

I just ended up bringing it inside. It started sprinkling so I enlisted my grandmother to help move it in the apartment.

Now the apartment will smell like silicone. Oh well.

Humidity will help the silicone cure faster.

My apartment definitely has humidity. It's a good thing I put my tarp inside. It's raining really hard now.

Maybe this might be a helpful thread to others sealing tarps.

Got a fan? I set a fan nearby, not pointing directly at the tarp, just to move some air around.
If it's still sticky when you need to pack, dust the seam sealer with a little talcum/baby powder.

Just buy a bag of Salt'n'Vinegar chips and start crunching away - no one will be the wiser that the smell is actually silicone.

The hike that a couple of friends and I went on turned out to be a grueling hike with it's elevation gain and terrain, but we made it home in one piece.

The hike ( http://www.trailsgalore.com/trails/1...il_Oregon.html ) for us was 23 miles round trip with an elevation gain of 3800' in the first 7 miles. So, there was a lot of uphill on the way there and lots of jarring downhill on the way back. So that was kinda painful. Also, when we got to camp, there was no dry wood. NO DRY WOOD. We tried all the tricks in the book and couldn't get a fire going in my J. Falk compact wood stove, so we cooked food on the Mini Bull Design's "Choke hazard", only to find out that the Mountain House beef stew that my friend brought went bad. It was 11 months over it's "best by" date and smelled and tasted like dog food. So, we at lots of Pancakes on the "one egg wonder" pan and choke hazard stove and promptly went to bed.

I realized that I only had leggings and shorts for my lower half and all my other clothes were wicking material, so I wore 2 (3oz) t-shirts, 2 (5 oz) long sleeved shirts and my tyvek rain pants. The sleeping was the best thing about the trip. I had my Nano 7 wrapped in a JRB HR under quilt, and a Sierra Sniveller top quilt, with my JRB 10x11 tarp above me. I was suprised how warm I was especially when it dropped into the low 40's.

It was a good trip but I'm going to get my pack weight lower and find a micro fleece top.
