I'm inching up to 230 and I've been sleeping in the same $20 traveler for about 4 years. Granted only a handful of nights each year. This year I've gone on a hammock binge and acquired/made a few hammocks. My most recent and current favorite is a ENO double nest with bug fly.

"Grand Trunk" has already contacted me about the failure. They seem to have quite an amazing customer service approach. I figured that with it being an inexpensive item and that I am a big guy that was approaching the weight limit that I would not bother anyone with its replacement. If I receive a replacement I think that they might just have themselves a long time customer.

Same thing happened to me after about 10 nights usage. I weight 225lb so I was also near the limit. What bums me out is that I really liked that hammock!!!

The Ultralight is my first hammock as well. I've had it for a few months and slept around 10 times in it without incident. I don't have anything to compare it to, but it hooked me in.

My first hammock was the Grand Trunk ultralight.
I've only used it a few times, and I only weigh 175#, but it seems to be a very good hammock. I'd rate it as more comfortable than my ENO ProNest, and I like the rope suspension much better than the carabiners in the ENO.
I may upgrade the ropes to amsteel, but I'll keep that hammock as my backup/loaner.
I plan to replace the carabiners in the ENO with amsteel to see if comfort improves. If it doesn't the Grand Trunk will be my #1 hammock for a while.

I'll 2nd the ENU DN -- i'm 230ish and appreciate the more 'robust' weight limit of 400lbs... plus it is *very* comfortable and easy (for me) to get a good sleeping angle. I replaced the heavy clips with direct tie to my whoopie sling and it dropped the weight considerably.

i always sling low-ish *just in case* ... still haven't learned to fully trust the hammock, though it has never prevented a good nights' sleep!!

Considering the potential consequences of an unplanned fall, I think it's best not to tempt the fates. The quest for an ultralight pack weight isn't worth a broken back.

The Grand Trunk Ultralight is probably a fine hammock but taking anything to near it's limit is risky.

Ours is a suspended activity. Always proceed with caution.

I received a Parachute Nylon Double Hammock from Michelle over there at Grand Trunk. They sent it as a replacement to the one that tore. I am very excited. I believe that Grand Trunk goes above and beyond in their customer service approach. I could not wait to set it up. I live in downtown Seattle so I took it up on the roof. I cannot figure out how to attach a photo so here is a link to my facebook and a cruddy blackberry photo of the hammock.http://www.facebook.com/steve.erb#!/...&id=1461490737

WOW! I'm shocked at this, I have a Skeeter beeter, (basically a traveler with bug netting) That has lasted me (peak wt 210 Lbs) over 4 years of use 2 of 3 nights year round. It finally has a 1" tear about butt level, but I patched it with Duct tape & still use it at work (1 of 3 nights) with no problems yet.
When you have a backpack on, no matter where you are, you’re home.
PAIN is INEVITABLE. MISERY is OPTIONAL.
