    Biker looking to Hang

Well I don't know that I'm your average hanger. I'm getting into camping from the back of my Harley. The thought of hauling a clunky tent was less than exciting. And honestly, I've always slept like crap on the ground. My only option was some hyperlight cot that was gonna cost me an arm and a leg... and I was less than thrilled.

After reading up here for a week or so... I stopped by an REI and wound up picking up an ENO doublenest, on a Friday, and off I went to ride the canyons above Malibu without thinking anything more about it... when low and behold there was a small bunch of trees in a grassy little corner of the canyon.

Rolled the bike off the road and behind the trees. Pulled out the hammock and straps. And in less than two minutes had it hung. Couple more minutes of fine adjustment and I was hanging. Great test I thought. Texted a few folks, facebooked some comment or other about the hammock, and next thing I knew... it was an hour and a half later. Best sleep I'd had in weeks. And I mean including my bed.

    Sold.

So now I avidly read Hammock Forums.

    Welcome to the forums.

I will totally agree with you. The first night I slept in a hammock I knew instantly the next morning that I was going to do everything I could in my power to never sleep on the ground again. Even with pads on the ground or in a shelter I have never had a night sleep that was even remotely as comfortable. And my back loves me.

My next project is doing more research and building a hammock stand to get red of my bed.

    Hi Jerome
I've been hanging from my bike for 6 years in a HH. I'll never tent again.

Welcome to the forums. I just hung up my motorcycle helmet after 20 years of riding. Hammocking is perfect for the motorcycle rider. Imagine hanging at Sturgis, at a local campground. Easy to carry, saves space on the bike, easy setup---you've got it made.

Welcome to HF from Bama. Glad to see that you will be hanging around with us. Look forward to some of the trip reports that you put together from the bike and hammock.

    Oscar:
I will be making the pilgramige this year to Sturgis. Plan on packing my hammock and hanging out when I can, could get a little crowded in the Toy Hauler that the we are staying in.

Welcome from another biker/hanger. Hanging sure makes it easy when you are out on the road.

I have a 1995 Ultra that I triked out two years ago and is perfect for light camping. When I feel the need to go to hit the twisties, my 1150 R/T is right at home.

Sounds great. I went once. That was enough for me.
