I just tried this last weekend on my DIY Speer. I untied the overhand knot, folded as described here, and whipped with a bootlace.

I like the flatness, more knee support, and it reduced the shoulder sqeeze on the foot side of the hammock to barely noticeable. (Head side never bothered me for some reason.) I'm using supplex nylon and have wide shoulders, so the shoulder squeeze issue is more significant to me than to many people.

The disadvantage is that the hammock seems to make you lay on a precise spot, and feels a little unstable during entry, exit, and shifting around. Not big issues considering the significant comfort. Of course, some of the comfort came from gaining about 1.5 feet in hammock length due to not using a knot in the end.

I'm going to try the standard Hennessey folding method next, but I may go back to this fold.

A side note: I'm just sliding the sewn-loop webbing straps toward the middle of the hammock about 2-3 ft while I modify the fold, then sliding them back. Not that easy, but much easier than re-sewing the webbing loops.

Thanks for posting the photos, I tried it with my single TTTM and it reduced much of the shoulder squeeze (I'm pretty tall). It is easy to do and you more or less create a head-
and footbox I guess. I'm going to keep it like this for a
    while.
