just wondering what size everyone is using for their hammock hanging and whoopie sling. and where you are getting yours from.

I use the 1/8 and the 7/64 sizes. I got mine from Redden Marine, but Paul at Arrowhead Equipment also has really good prices and his customer service is excellent.

i use 1/8". I know it may be overkill, but I'm a pretty solid buit 330lb and very tossy sleeper so I like the added weight limits of the 1/8 for peace of mind sake. The weight difference between the 7/64 and 1/8 IMHO is minimal.
you are probly correct about the weight being not a problem, but price is. the 1/8 is about double the price. has anyone broke a 7/64 size in a hammock situation
There are some pretty hefty hangers using Dynaglide successfully and it's break strength is under 1000# so 7/64 is plenty strong. I've never heard of anyone breaking it.
As is always the case with this type of line, make sure to use splices instead of knots. Slippery stuff it is.

yes, thank you. i will be making a whoopie sling out of it.
Just putting in my 2¢ for Redden Marine. I bought it back before they were offering the discount and cheaper shipping but it was still the best place to buy from.
Before I got the splicing religion, I was using knots and had one ridgeline failure where a bowline came undone but that was my fault, not Amsteel's.
7/64" with splices is going to be strong enough for any hammock application I can think of. Remember, it's at least as strong if not stronger than the same diameter steel cable.
ill probly get it from west marine. i have one close to my house. and dont have to pay for shipping. yeah
You can get the line at almost any West Marine outlet.
