    Pictures of my first hammock

I finally made my first hammock for my daughter so we can hang together. The first picture is just her in the hammock

The second image was taken with her grandmother so you could see how small the hammock really is with an adult beside it.

I used $1 1.9 ripstop from walmart and some 3mm (I think) climbing rope from our local outfitter. Simply sewed the seams, whipped it, added the support lines and she was very happy with it.

Even though it was a small project, I feel very comfortable with whipping, sewing, etc. I learned a ton throughout the project.

Thanks for everyones advice and information, this site is wonderful!

I really want to try and make a hammock sock similar to the one you posted earlier in the week. I was really impressed and can't get it out of my head. I am addicted to a darn sewing machine. Who would have thought?

    Way to go!

Not just the hammock, but taking your daughter! She's cute. I have 3 myself and have taken my oldest backpacking but not hanging yet - just a tent. She still likes sleeping near me when the critters start making noise!

Great job. She'll love that hammock and love hanging with her Dad. Congrats.

    That is great!

She looks like she likes it, you may have to fight her over the sewing machine in a few years.
