okay, here's what I'll do. I have a few items that fit the general camping gear category that I will place in a box. Once it's ready I'll send it off. Once the recipient gets it and places an item(s) in the box he/she will post here. They will choose a recipient asking for the address via PM. Sound simple enough?
We did something like this on CK5.com a forum for chevy4x trucks.
Whom ever wanted to participate gave a "I am in" in the thread, first guy mailed a box of stuff to him, and he mailed a box of his own extras out to the next guy etc. Eventually every one just mailed there own box out with out waiting for theirs to come everyone got something, was fun.
DAVE.
The further you go,
the longer it takes to get back.
Another thought, this would be a neat idea for Group Hangs. A large box could be set-up in a common area and everybody could bring an item, or more, to drop in the box when they arrive. Then folks can take turns selecting items. I'll bring a tow cable to the next Colorado Winter Hang just in case Just Jeff has need of one.....again
Trust nobody!
I like the group hang idea -- a sort of white elephant gear exchange. I'm in for the rotating box. Shipments must be trackable, I think, with #'s posted on the thread. I have a few items I'll donate (my stove and accessories box is getting too full).
Sounds like fun. Count me in. Is there a limit on weight or dollar value?
What about DIY or used items?

As you would be the one paying for the shipping, it's up to you. But if I get a box with a large truck hitch in it, I'm pulling that out befre I ship again. DIY and used are great, so long as there are in good, useable condition. We don't want any fellow hangers to report failures of gear gleaned from this box. It's not a junk box.
Sweet. I can make a few aluminum bottle alcohol stoves and put in there. or one of my DIY hammocks and let someone giver 'er a good home.
