Oh yea, that was another question I had. Do the skins "go" somewhere specific when everything is set up? Should I slide them right up against the HH knot, push them back, or what?

So the pic Jeff took, you mean that tiny little bitty strand of thread does the trick?

Yeah I was suprised that was all it took too. I think that once the water starts flowing, it does not stop. So the little strand will be enough. Next time I set up I am going to see if twisting the hammock will work. Just make sure that whatever you use you test it out first.

I put my skins on the ends of my hammock underneath the tarp. That way they will be dry when I put them over the hammock. I know they are semi waterproof, but I do not think that anyone's skins would stay dry if left in the rain for a long time.

How about this little doodad used on the Clark hammocks. I read there is a patent pending but it sure wouldn't take much to make one from a piece of aluminum tubing. My daughter has one and claims it works very well.

i can`t tell for sure what they have there, but it looks like the rope just loops through a short pice of tubing. if so, i`d be wondering if that set-up would reduce the strength of the rope.
another idea i experimented w/ was sewing a 3" pice of webbing on each side of the support webbing, forming a T. the cross pice was only sewed on the side near the hammock, then the stiching sealed w/ seam sealer. i didn`t spend much time w/ it before i moved on, but i belive that should serve as a definite water deverter... if it didn`t also reduce the strength of the webbing. ...tim
