there is still binding on the ridgeline.

it's the exact same shape as shown on the website, just slightly different construction...rolled hem around the peremiter instead of edge binding. the corners are still plenty strong, i tested them thoroughly, and your tarp is still covered under warranty and is still returnable.

i posted here about the change a few months ago, but forgot to have the change made to the site, thanks for pointing that out

I chose Warbonnet's tarp specifically because it didn't have all that binding. I didn't want the weight. I'm getting to be such a gram weinee.

I completely missed the post where you talked about the change in edge binding, and would be interested in reading it - anyone have a link?

Also, specs for the difference in weight between the old and new designs would be sweet.

yeah for me it is a double edged sword. I like loosing ounces, but for me i am concerned about durability and longevity. my friend has a tarp that, when pitched, you can see the pinholes stretch with just a mild amount of tension. I'm looking forward to my new tarp and trusting that the loss of the edging isn't a loss of durability

I just went and set it up. It does look plenty strong. I loved the hammock, too. Out of curiosity, what warranty does it have? I didn't see anything about that on the website?

I always felt it was purely aesthetic ....... I put none on my tarps that I DIY'ed and they have held up fine. They pitch tight as well. Lighter a bit too.......

my stuff is covered for any defect in workmanship or defect in materials, and you can return a new product as well if you just decide it's not for you

during testing i put many times more tension on those new corners than you ever would in a camping situation, and the corners showed no signs of stress or stitch hole stretching.

the weight loss isn't that great really, but i feel like it pitches just as tight if not tighter and with less tension from the guylines. weight loss wasn't great (there was a few grams), i removed binding, but i had to add corner reinforcement and heavier corner hardware.
