You're off to a brilliant start with Ed's book and Shug's videos. Now it's time to quit your job and spend the next 4 or 5 months reading through the wealth of information and opinions about hammocks and related gear found here. When you think you've got it all figured-out, start over.

Morning and welcome. Where in the UK are you? There may be other hammock users nearby who can show you their set ups.

    Greetings from Poland!
It is always nice to see the fellow from EU

BTW: is there any kind of recycled aluminum container widely available in UK, that can be used as a cooking pot?

    Welcome!

Suggestions! well there are so many hammocks and ways of hanging, insulating and keeping them dry my advice would be to read, read and read this forum until your eyes are bleary Also meeting up with some other hammockers like mentioned would be good to see what they have. Remember that it's also good to make your own DIY gear. For a noob you could do a lot worse than getting a simple DD Hammock and tarp to start off with.

    Happy hanging

Welcome to the forums! Since you have Ed's book already. Make a DIY hammock it's both fun and educational. You will never regret doing so!

Col_M is that a gradient wing above your head? where do you fly?

I fly swing and gradient here in BC, good to see another Paraglider on the site, Hammocks work well with Paragliding, That's how I flew the world cups and the worlds for two years on the trot

My first rig was a ENO double nest, my second was a WBBB. I like them both.
