    Kelty 9 Tarp

    Hi Everyone,
New guy here. Has anyone used the Kelty 9 over their hammock? I just purchased one at a decent price and I was hoping to get some feed back from you guys.

This was my first tarp that I owned when I got into hammocks. It is a very good tarp.

What is the actual finished size of that tarp?

Or, to get to the point of my question, what is the measured ridgeline length, when pitched on a diagonal (diamond)?

Too long.....at least for the 12. I pitch in not on the diagonal and it is so big you can close it off on the ends. Makes for a great winter tarp but is too long to pitch on the diagonal most of the time. That is whay I want the 9.

If it is in fact 9X9 which I think it is, the ridgeline is just under 13 ft. The 12 ft. would be about 17 ft. I can see how that would be too much.

    I love diagonal tarps.

I used my Kelty Noah 9 for several years before switching to a 10 X 10 square, non cat cut tarp. The Kelty worked great. I always hung it on the diagonal (it's made that way) with my hammock. I switched to a square 10 X 10 because I occasionally have to go to ground in the State Parks in FL with my Scouts. The square gives me more options for rigging it when I (shudder) have to go to ground. The Kelty Noah 9 I just rigged in a flying diamond if I went to ground.
