The Edge?

Does anyone own an Edge tarp from Warbonnet? I am thinking about purchasing one. Id like to pick some brains before i do. I will be puting it over a HH Exped. Does it have enough room under it for cooking? I would be using it mainly for summer. Any info would help, and some pics over an

HH would be great.

I have an Edge. Don't own a HH, but here is a pic of the Edge over my WBBB.

I must say I really like the Edge. It packs down to about the same size as my Mambajamba, but weighs far less (mine is spinn, not sinylon). I was worried about whether the coverage would be sufficient before I bought it, but now that I've actually tried it out I think it should work fine for most situations.

As far as cooking under it is concerned.... I would say that the answer would be....maybe. Personally, I wouldn't feel comfortable cooking that close to my hammock. The Edge was designed as a "fast and light" piece of gear, and it does its job admirably, but if you are looking for a tarp that provides a good bit of living space, I would advise something a little bigger.

I've cooked under my edge while sitting in the hammock. Worked fine. Way more space than a Hennessy Tarp which I have also found to be adequate for cooking under.

YMMV. Some people spread out and need more space under a tarp, I find tarps like the Edge to be way more roomy than they NEED to be, but nice to have for a little extra room when staying under the tarp for longer periods than just sleeping.

+1 for what SR said ... I personally prefer a larger tarp especially when there's chance of rain ... or lots of rain. something nice about being able to enjoy that "porch" effect ... and having room not to have to hunker in from the rain. One of the things I love about hammock camping vs a tent ... is the tarp porch.

Amen Hawk-eye. Tarp porches are great. With the stock HH tarp I have to keep the sides down in rain and sit on the ground to cook and stay dry. But with the Edge and rectangle tarps the porch is my favorite way to go whenever possible. In really bad rains I put the sides down on the edge as well.

I just got an edge in spin as my first tarp. I am really starting to like it. It is just long enough to where If I hang my hammock low (really low) than I can pitch my tarp to where the corners touch the ground. It is good for storms that way but leaves you with a difficult entrance/exit as well as little living space. I like staking it out in porch mode the majority of the time though. Did I say light weight?

i just bought a warbonnet big mamajamba. can anyone post pics of how to pitch hex styles tarps like the edgs and big mamajamba. like with the sides pulled down in bad weather, porch.... just any variations. im eventually gonna get the door kit from warbonnet but for now have to work some variations with the tarp by itself.
