Another Harley rider and canoer, craftsman and musician. I used to camp in a hammock many years ago, remember those cheap fish net type hammocks, they kind of cocooned around you but they worked. That was 30 years ago.
We were down in Vaca Key, Marathon, at a fish festival and my wife bought this hammock, guy was a good salesman, told us it could hold 400 pounds. I was not quite there yet, tipping the scales at 264. She knew I liked and used hammocks but for some reason we never used it.
I joined a bushcraft forum about 6 months ago and hammock camping came up. It turns out that Eno is an OK hammock, so I bought the bug screen that goes with it and a small tarp.
Looking around the forum here I notice a lot of cool knots and rigs so I'm going to spend some time checking this stuff out. I had never heard of the Whoopie Sling before today, but I've spliced that kind of line before and have all kinds of fids and marlin spikes from sailing and making up my riggings.
Is there any links to a comprehensive list of the knots you guys use to rig your hammocks? I know a bunch but the names change according to the usage.
Oh, and I'm down to 178 lbs now. Got a new canoe a couple of Harleys and I'm ready for the swamps.
