Here's the COLLIGO MARINE SOFT SHACKLE OPERATION that really ties in to Karl's shackle.
It may be posted on HF somewhere ...BUT it is a mirror of Karlw1's without the additional o-ring

i used zing-it and buried it all the way back to the knot so there was a clean slide on the constrictor. it does work like a zipper. pic of the next one i made.
look at the double-eyed needle in the middle. too cool.
Opie,
Got my soft shackles yesterday and used them to hang my HH with two rappel rings instead of using carabiners. They worked great and held my weight. Thanks for the rapid turn around on my order.
Thanks KK..
I'll be looking for that 2xeyed needle...Tho it doesn't look very long

the uses of these things never stop.

Did I buy the wrong Amstell Blue? I have enough room for my leader line but no room to bring bury the end. My line is 1/8". Maybe I'm starting off too small of diameter for my first time?
Hey opie,
Do you have the measurements for doing this shackle style with Dynamee? Or does this method not work as well as the locked loop?

What do you mean by "dress the knot"? Tighten it up? I've made a couple of these and they are awesome, much easier than shackle in the youtube video that was linked to elsewhere in this thread. The diamond knot is my enemy right now!
Dressing the knot is getting it to look right as you tighten it. Many knots will only function as intended if properly dressed. For this knot you want the wraps to lay next to each other almost in a coil around the standing part of your rope. You also need a tail sticking out of the bottom end of the knot. As the knot is stressed the tail can back out a little, and if your tail is too short it can fail by untying under a heavy load well before any part of the rope reaches its breaking strength. What do you mean by "dress the knot"? Tighten it up?
OneEye, thanks for the explanation and welcome to the forum!
