Last Christmas a client gave me an Amazon gift certificate. I ended up buying a GT Ultralight for something like $17 just to give a hammock a try. I have had it hanging in the basement and was never able to get comfortable until tonight. I ginned up the courage to pull the gather cords and used Jeff's W whip instructions. Comfort improved markedly. Can't beat the price and service question reply is lightning fast.

I own the nano 7 from Grand Trunk and its a great product. It might be a little small for bigger guys. The length is not the issue, its the width of the hammock and its stretch when I lay in it. Im pretty big (6'3" 215 pounds) and I realized that I couldnt really sleep comfortably in it due to the shoulder and head compression. My friend who is a bit shorter than me slept comfortably in it though. I had a ridgeline with a figure 9 on it that allows me to adjust it and I tweaked it a couple of times so I dont think thats the problem. Overall great hammock. Super lightweight when i combined it with my BWDD silnylon rectangular tarp, just not for the big fellers like me.

Just saw this in my email from guidegear.com

    http://www.bargainoutfitters.com/net...?a=435127&pn=1

Its from GT, but with another name on it. The web link posted on the bag is www.travelhammock.com, but takes you the the GT website.

Would this be ok for a first timer such as myself?

GT use to be The Travel Hammock. Same company, new name.

The Ultra-light is a narrow hammock so it depends on your size if you will be comfortable.

    Thanks for the info!

I ordered one up yesterday, but will have to wait a few weeks since it's on back order. Bargain Outfitters was pretty good about keeping me posted on the last back ordered item I picked up from them, so I have no worries about this order.

I have a Skeeter Beater Pro. It's nice but for my size I may have to upgrade soon. I need more width.

As a newby I am also considering a GT. For me, bug protection is a must, year round, so I am looking at the GT Skeeter Pro. Is this a good entry level hammock?

The GT skeeter beeter pro is my first and only hammock so far. It Definately will keep the bugs off you! Modifications are a must though. I changed the suspension to a ring/webbing system, and soon will be adding side tyouts to help with the mosi net asjustment and overall comfort. The netting can be tricky to get right, but overall a suitable starter hammock.

I have the Nano-7 and really enjoy it. I replaced the caribiners with whoopies and added a 95" ridgeline. I'm only 5'2" and nowhere near the max rating so it's very comfortable for me. It's pretty narrow so you need to be careful when getting in and out otherwise you could end up upside down on the other side. Aaah...not that I know what that's like...

From the Grand Trunk web site
What is the warranty on Grand Trunk products?

A: All of our products come with a warranty at the time of purchase. Our hammocks carry a two year warranty against manufacturer defects, and all other products have a one year limited manufacturer warranty unless otherwise stated.
Someone had posted that they had a ten year warranty
