Hey, y'all, I'm currently at Cherry Tree Shelter on the Iron Mountain.Trail in Virginia. A big Whooo-buddy to all the HF gang! Anyone who hasn't hiked this trail needs to put it their to-hike list. I took the 5.2 mile stroll from VA 16 up about a total of about 1200 vertical feet of climbing to get here. The trail is well marked and easy to follow. There are a lot of muddy ruts the horses have walked into the trail, but they're easily avoided. The only human life I saw all day were 6 horseback riders in a group together coming down the trail in the opposite direction. I've had dinner, hung my hammock (with no tarp tonight) and completed my camp chores. Now I'm just waiting on dark to enevelop my little space in the woods so I can turn in. Big thanks to my buddy Bearpaw for the trail intel and Lone Wolf for the free shuttle. I know Wolf will never see this, but it bears saying. Signing off to save battery, all secure in Sector 7. Carry on.
